Nissan Repair: nissan truck 86 slave cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, nissan 720

Question
I have a nissan  truck year 86' i think, i was told that the slave cylinder gave problems when the previous owner used it and he would fill the dot fluid every now and then.  after a while the truck wouldnt go into gear. what is the slave cylinder. is the slave cylinder expensive to replace and could i replace it myself easily as i have little experience with engines.

Answer
Jason,

There is a master and slave cylinder on the truck.  The master is the one where you put the fluid in, when it gets low, and the slave is on the transmission bell housing.  The slave is the one that applies the clutch release fork.  Check out the following link to partsgeek.com
