Nissan Repair: electrical wiring, nissan sentra, razor knife

Question
I have a 96 Nissan sentra and I've been having electrical problems to the starter. My question is can I rewire with a red 10 gauge wire directly from the positive battery terminal and run it directly to the starter to see if that fixes it. Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you

Answer
Adrian,

The large cable to your starter is already wired directly to your battery.  There is a fuse link in the circuit that may be cooked.  Get a razor knife and cut the tape and conduit covering the wire at the positive cable and trace it back to the starter.  If it is indeed defective replace it with a factory unit.  If you do not have the funds use a length of fuse wire that will replace that which is cooked.  A dead or low battery and repeated start attempts will melt the fuse link wire.
