Nissan Repair: 1993 Maxima headlight dim on high beam, high beams, low beams

Question
Greetings Calvin!  My 1993 Maxima SE has a left headlight which dims when the high beams come on.  The low beams are both fine and the right high beam works fine.  The left light just grows slightly dim, rather than brighten when the high beams come on.  New bulbs don't help.  Both bulb sockets measure about 12V respectively, in both high and low settings.  In the dash, the high beam indicator light stays illuminated, whether or not the stalk is switched to high beams.  Past questions seem to indicate light switches that go bad in Nissans.  Given the voltage to the left high beam seems good, could running a new ground to the socket wire or light switch work?  I've done that for the stereo when it stopped working with a bad ground wire in the harness. It seems a lot cheaper than buying a new switch!  Thank You!

Answer
Hi Quntin -

You are on the right track. Improving, or cleaning the ground connection normally solves this kind of problem. Try doing that first before anything else. Look for loose connections at the terminal (plug).

Hope this helps -
