Nissan Repair: starter removal, starter removal, motor mounts

I have a 1988 pathfinder 4wd v6 w/155,000 and I,m having trouble removing the starter. I already removed the 2 bolts and the starter is loose. I can't see how the wire to the solenoid is attached. How do I disconnect that? Also will the starter come out from the bottom or top? Will anything else need to come out like maybe the oil filter and oil switch if coming out from top? Need help asap since it's my only car. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

I have difficulties with this one.  I take it out the bottom.  However, the filter, sender need to come off if you want it to come out the top.  I have never tried this way.  I jack up the engine, after unbolting the motor mounts and use a block of wood under the oil pan for support.
