Question
I recently bought Nissan Primera P11 model 1.8 petrol 2001 nun runner,I put diagnostic on and showed cranck sensor fault (P0335) replaced news sensor original it still would not start,I started playing around with the with wiring plug of cranck sensor and it started, found the wiring in plug to be loose, crimped the plug wires it starts fine, but managment light still on after clearing fault and showing same fault.Been told this cars suffer from timing chain streching problem, but it dosen't sound at all as if timing is out, only holds back a bit on a run and hasitates a littel,I took rocker cover off to check timing chain it seems fine to me and not loose at all from what I can see,may I have your opinoin please as I am desperet to put this car right. Are there other problems releted to this i.e Air Mas Meter because sometimes Diagnostic machines do not pick up these faults.

Answer
Yunus,

The crank angle sensor is the trigger device for the computer to fire the sparkplugs.  YOu can verify what is going on by checking the plugwires for spark.  I would suspect a wiring harness from what you have said or the connector itself.  You could do a continuity test on the harness to make sure you have proper voltage and not intermittent voltage.  This is most probably the harness or connector.  True, the mass airflow sensor is a problem sometimes.  But, you have no indication of it being defective.  You could get a volt ohm meter and probe the MAF using the values for your vehicle to eliminate it as a possibility.  Thiming appears to be correct.  Also, get a fuel pressure gauge just to be sure the fuel pressure is constant.
