Nissan Repair: Knock Sensor - P0325 error, nissan maxima, knock sensor

Question
My 1998 Nissan Maxima 3.0 has two error codes:
1. P0325 - Knock Sensor - Where is this located and what is the best way to change. Does the intake have to be removed?

2. P0136 - Bank 1 sensor 2 (I see three - one on each exhaust manifold and third behind a common catalytic converter) O2 error  code  - Is this the sensor behind the catalytic Converter?

Answer
Hi Dennis -

The knock sensor is located on the manifold near the intake boot. Every car is a little different as far as access, but you should be able to get to it and remove it with an open end wrench. The sensor has a hex shape to allow the wrench to fit.

Bank 1 is the right side, and sensor 2 is the one behind the converter. However, I would replace the O2 sensor first, as it could be relaying the wrong signal causing the knock sensor to show a code.

Hope this helps -
