Nissan Repair: timing an replace timing chain n gears, crank pulley, touch up paint

Question
what r the timing marks an position of crank an cam when replacing timing chain,an firing order for distributor cap to plugs

Answer
Tim,

I need the year and model for specifics.  But, if you have not jumped timing you can manually turn the engine over to get to top dead center (TDC) on the crank pulley/balancer.  After this you can remove the timing cover and inspect the marks on each pulley and the direction the rotor is pointing on the distributor.  Now, with all this noted I like to use white or yellow touch-up paint to make note of the marks.  Let the paint dry on the marks.  Now, release the tensioner and begin the process of changing out your chain, gears and tensioner.  Yes, get a new tensioner to make sure your new chain is tight.  Also, insepct the cover for scoring and the guides for possible replacement too.
