Nissan Repair: 2001 nissan altima GXE rear speaker, nissan altima gxe, nissan altima

Question
QUESTION: Do you know how to get to and replace the rear speakers on a 2001 Nissan Altima Gxe. Thanks

ANSWER: Kevin,

If you have the stock ones you are looking at removal of the rear door panels to gain access.  To get the panel off you need to remove the screw under the door handle and the other one under the door pull.  Then, pry off the panel starting from the bottom and work your way up along each side untill they are all free.  Disconnect the wires for the electric switch and light.

QUESTION: Thank You, however, the rear speakers I have are under the flat rear window panel, I presume I must remove that panel, by removing the little push in or snap in buttons, 8 or so of them. but it stills is rather snug in place and I did not want to break it by pulling too hard..

However the answer you provided I think is the method that I will ne to use in order to replace the front speakers as the mesh in front of the speakers is part of the door panel. Am I on the right path on this thought trail.

And thank You for answering, wonderful reply time, I will definitely rate this as a great site for assistance.

Take care.

Answer
Kevin,

If yours are on the package shelf then you do the work from the trunk side and remove the four attach points and remove them. Be careful to keep the plus and negative in order to connect the enw speakers.  On the front door speakers use the speaker frame from the originals to keep your aftermarket speakers from contacting the glass as it is rolled down.  If you mount directly the magnet will extend too far in the door to allow the window to come down fully.
