Nissan Repair: 2005 nissan xterra, mass air flow, nissan xterra

my xterra was running fine then it acted like it was going to run out of gas and i just put gas in it when i got it home i cranked it up ran fine then i hit the gas it shut off then cranked back up ran ruff with a little black smoke the only code i had was mass air flow i changed it now it wont crank at all got gas got air now just no fire im loss any help would be great thanks

Hi Mike -

Couple things I need to ask -

When you say it doesn't crank at all - are you saying the starter turns the engine but does not start, or when you turn the key to start the car there is no sound?

Also, the MAF could have triggered a code because the engine was running rough.
