Nissan Repair: Gas pedal that goes to the floor, nissan altima, throttle linkage

Question
I have a 95 nissan altima the car starts-up fine.  This morning the car took off fine, but while driving I put my foot on the gas pedal and it went all the way to the floor like their was no pressure. I can put the car in revse, ntl & drive. The gas pedal goes to the floor so I'm not able to move the car. Is something unhook to cause this promblem or is it a transmission problem. I don't have the money to take it to a cert mech.

Answer
Hi Kathy -

The cable probably broke. There is a cable that runs from your pedal to the throttle linkage. You can see the connection when you open your hood and look at the intake manifold. Inspect the cable, try to move it back and forth in the casing. If it moves, then the cable is broken, and will need to be replaced.

It is a dealer item so local part stores will probably not have it.

As for replacement, it is not difficult, however you will need certain tools. Are you planning on replacing this yourself?

Hope this helps -
Good luck
