Nissan Repair: AC question, nissan pickup, fusible link

Question
My son has a 1995 Nissan pickup.  The ac is not working.  The blower works the heat works.  When you push the green AC button the compressor does not kick on.  I just assumed the compressor was shot, but their was no warning of it going out.  When you press the green ac button the light does not come on.  Someone told me to check the fuses under the dash and they are fine.  I have also been told there may be a fusible link or relay under the hood that could be bad?  Is that true and is there a way to check if they are bad?
Thanks.

Answer
Hi Paul -

Before going there I would check to see if it is low on freon. There should be a pressure limit switch somewhere along the high line side of the system. If the freon gets too low, it kicks off the compressor in order to prolong the life of the compressor.

I would have that checked, as well as for leaks.

Hope this helps -
