Nissan Repair: Niassan VAnette Cargo headlamp problem, headlamp bulb, beam light

Question
Hi, approx. 6 months ago I had to replace the headlamp bulb holder and now the problem is back.  The symptoms are: 1.for a few days the high beam light on the dash glimmered when the lights were dipped, eventually the left head light stopped working and the high beam light on the dash is full on even when the beams were dipped. 2. the buzzer sounds when I switch on the side lights but goes off when I switch on the headlights.
Why is the bulb holder melting? Norman

Answer
Norman,

The grounds are important on the headlights since they draw so much current.  I would make sure the grounds are well connected.  I loosen them and spray tuner cleaner on the connection adn tighten it back down.  If the connection on the bulb is not tight or the wires are not soldered this can cause the problem too.  Resistance is the key to the problem.  Remember, you turn on a relay that feeds power to the bulb.  The ground is already there.  If the relay survives the problem is closer to the bulb.  If the vehicle has ever been in an accident check for the ground not being tight or paint over where the star washer is supposed to bite into the metal.  Email me back and let me know what you find.
