Nissan Repair: Nissan 2000 xttera no power 50 to 55 mph, mass airflow sensor, nissan north america

Question
Service Engine Soon light went on just over 100,000 miles.  Cleaned air filter, new spark plugs, fuel filter.  okay for 2,000 miles with a little jerk at low idle.  Service Engine soon light came back on 2 months later. I can't drive to dealership because the dealership told me not to drive that far with the problem, in the first place.

I took it to 45 years in the business trusted mechanic, local.  He replaced the knock sensor and all around tune up The light went back on and when you get up to 50 to 55 mph, up a slight incline, it shakes and runs rough, no power, light flashes.  Now the mechanic is considering misfire with new fuel injector.

The dealership is refusing to help with any information, while at first, two months ago, he was saying that the mechanic could call with questions about the codes, and what the problem was.  NOW, he wants me to have it towed 100 miles to the dealership.  I can drive just fine under 50 miles an hour in town..no problem.

I can't afford Nissan dealerships, they charged me $139.00 for a window repair when I didn't request it, while it was in for the fuel sender recall, that, by the way, they didn't do, at the time, because the part wasn't there.  I made the appointment one month in advance for this recall.  They wouldn't release my car until I paid them the money for an unnecessary repair that I didn't ask for!!!

I need help!!!  I am unemployed and on my own.

Thanks so much for any information.

Answer
Janet,

First call Nissan North America.  The number is 1800 nissan 1
Call and raise heck with them about what the dealer did to you on the window.  Second, without the codes I would not know what your problem is above 50 miles an hour.  I would suspect the mass airflow sensor.  But, it only does it at higher speed.  So, it might be a plugging converter or even a bad fuel pump or regulator.  Without the code I can only give you what I would look at.  Go to Autozone or Checker and get the codes read for free and email me back.  We'll go from there.
