Nissan Repair: NIssan Primera Flat Spot?, oxygen sensors, platinum plugs

Question
Hi there, I own a 2000 Nissan Primera Manual speed Station Wagon which has recently started to flat spot when changing gears and accelarating on the open road.  It recently even shook when going up hill yet no warning lights have come on to tell me what the problem is?  Please help, your advice is very much appreciated. Many Thanks, Deb

Answer
Deborah,

A flat spot usually means the throttle position switch is wearing out.  Shaking going up hill, if it does not downshift, is normal.  Try downshifting going up hill.  Also, if that does not do the trick try replacement of the sparkplugs.  Go for Nippondenso or NGK platinum plugs.  They go for around 60,000 miles.  I have replaced the ones in my 2000 Maxima twice since I purchased it and have over 140,000 miles on it.  Plugs work wonders.  I do not know if yours has oxygen sensors as they get old too.  I have replaced all three on the Maxima and it was like I purchased a new car.  The performance was incredible.  I do not know if they ship to overseas locations but there are two places I shop for parts on-line for Nissan and these are rockauto.com and courtesyparts.com  Both are reasonable on price and shipping.  If you know any Japanese Domestic Market shops on your side of the Pacific I would be most interested.
