Nissan Repair: Tach, nissan sentra spec v, nissan sentra

Question
I have an 03 nissan sentra Spec-v and the tach quit working the other day. everything else works on the panel but the tach. It just sits at 0. What could it be?

Answer
Bruce,

It is probably the tach or the lead that feeds power to the tach from the ignition circuit feed.  Check the fuses and if you have access to a scanner that reads RPMs you will know if it is the tach.  The computer pulls tach information at the cluster connection.  So, that would mean the tach is getting powered and if the needle does not move that would mean it was defective.
