Nissan Repair: 2001 Altima P1605 Error, speciality shop, advanced computers

Question
I am getting a P1605 error. The car slips into neutral at random times and random speeds. The O/D/ light flashed and the check engine light is on. I understand that this is an issue with the TCM and the ECM communicating correctly. My question: How long should it take a dealer to diagnose this issue? Will the dealer's advanced computers identify the issue are will there be a lot of under the hood checking.

Thanks!

Answer
Wesley,

The A/T communications link error usually means that the transmission computer is defective.  But, the Consult II Scan Tool that the dealer or speciality shop has will refine this and find the problem.  Not much under hood checking unless there is an open circuit where they have to trace wires.
