Nissan Repair: Front brakes mystery, brake pad change, nissan altima

Question
Thanks, My 2000 nissan Altima front brakes have me puzzled. It started with replacing worn front pads. The rotors were resurfaced and new pads installed. The replacement pads seemed to noisy and were returned for a better quality pads. Now the left front brake seems to grab and at times makes a medal to medal sound when applying the brakes. The caliper has been replaced, system bleed numerous times,re- inspected the hard ware and the proper installation.  The rotor was not resurfaced the second time cause the pads were used for a few days only.Thaks for your help.

Answer
Ruben,

The most probable cause is the brake pads.  After the government outlawed asbestos in brake pads there have been many different attempts to come up with another material that works as well.  Usually, I go with factory pads because of this.  Otherwise I use EBC or Performance Friction Carbon Metallic pads.  Of the three I life Nissan, factory pads, best.  But, after that these are the other two manufactures that make pads that work well.  That is, they do not grab, which is what yours is doing, or make noise like the other pads were doing.  courtesyparts.com is a cost effective option to purchasing, Nissan pads, at the dealer.  I usually have an extra set of pads for the car, on the shelf, for the next brake pad change, since I do not like to wait for parts.  The other pads can be obtained at Autozone for the Performance Friction Carbon Metallic.  The EBC are harder to find so you will have to shop around if you want them.  Lastly, Nissan offers a shim kit for under $20 bucks that will aid in the elimination of squeaks.
