Nissan Repair: a32 cefiro engine problem, cefiro, chain tensioner

My a32(vq20) has a noisy rattle in the engine. ive been told theres a chain tensioner and that the chain could be a little loose. how do i tighten the chain. another mechanic said its screwed and itl be 1500 bucks 2 fix. I dont trust him tho

What is the year of your vehicle?

The rattling could very well be the tensioner, however noises and rattles can come from a plethora of components. Give me the mileage and year of your car, and we can see if it is time to replace the chain.

Unfortunately the timing chain cannot be adjusted.
