Nissan Repair: brake service, copper sulfate, brake performance

Question
Recently had the sentra in for a brake service. The rear pads were replaced and rotors turned. Yesterday I had to take the car back in to service for another problem and they suggested the brakes be bleed. Question is: should that have been part of the previous brake service?

Answer
Renata,

They might not have caught the bleeding the last time you were in.  I recommend you have the brakes bled and flushed every two years.  Brake fluid loves water since it it is hygroscopic and as a result humidity works its way into the brake fluid and causes all kinds of corrosion problems.  Also, copper sulfate is used in drawing the brake lines during manufacturing.  As a result, the copper gets in solution with the brake fluid and that harms brake performance too.  So, just get them bled every two years and you should be fine.  I do not think they are trying to mess with you.
