Nissan Repair: jammed door lock, nissan pickup, right position

Question
i have a 1987 nissan pickup with manual locks. the door was in the locked
position, i inserted my key and turned it to the right, instead of the left, to
unlock it. there was a loud "click" noise and the key and lock stayed stuck in
the right position with the key stuck in the lock. i've tried to unlock the door
from the inside, but everything is stuck.  the key on the outside will not move
in any direction at all. any ideas? worth trying to disassemble the door
myself?

Answer
Hi Patty -

Try lubricating the lock by spraying some WD40 or similar lubricant that has a plastic extension so that you can direct the spray. Get it between the key and lock, spray between the door and window, anything that allows you to get to the area where the key is. Keep playing with it back and forth. What happened is the pins in the lock got jammed, and won't allow the key to return. Keep spraying the lube in the lock, and it should work itself loose if you continue to work it back and forth.

Hope this helps -
