Nissan Repair: car wont start anymore always smell gas, metal surface, fuel pump

Question
My car won't start anymore always smell gas, sounds like fuel pump unsure , also check engine light stays on. What should I do ? Please help!

Answer
Hi Barbara -
Please tell me what model, year and make of your car is?

Generically, if you are smelling raw gas, looks like the engine is not getting spark. Do this test - pull out a spark plug boot and insert a screwdriver firmly until it wedges against the metal terminal inside. Hold it about 1/4" from any metal surface of the engine, and have a helper try to start the car (do not touch any metal surface while doing this). Let me know if there is a spark jumping between the 2 surfaces.

Please get back to me -
