Nissan Repair: leak, 2003 nissan altima, bolt holes

Question
QUESTION: I have a antifreeze coming out of the transmission bolt. The mechanic said it might be a cracked block but he never seen that before.  And without looking directly at it, its uncertain. The leak is slow he said because my car hasnt been overheating and he said the leak is cause water is getting out but im not sure. Can anyone help?

ANSWER: Hi Jason -

First of all, what is the make, model and year of your car?

Secondly, what transmission bolt are you speaking of?

If the antifreeze is coming out from between the transmission and the engine, it could be an expansion plug on the engine side. Transmission would have to be removed for that one.

Hope this helps -

QUESTION: its a 2003 nissan altima heres a picture http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/tt141/jasonkw/IMG_0356.jpg
the mechanic said its the transmission bolt idk much about cars

Answer
Hi Jason -

Thanks for the picture. Looks like you have seepage from one of the bolt holes.

Although it is difficult to determine exactly what is causing this without removing the transmission, we can determine what it is not -

So, the first thing to do is take a compression test. This will tell you if the engine cylinder head is cracked.

Is the car running rough, or has a hard time starting in the morning?

let me know -
