Nissan Repair: my car, nissan maxima, engine stalls


Question
i have a 1990 nissan maxima and if you go out in the morning after a good nights sleep the car starts just fine runs for about 1/2 hour and starts spitting and sputtering and if i stop i have to floor it to get to speed the engine stalls and dies and i have to wait and hour or 2 before it will start again and i have no idea what is wrong could you help

Hi James -

Do you have an engine trouble code?

If not, then try checking the ignition module. This is located in the distributor and it often fails when the engine gets warm. Once the engine cools, it will work again.
