Nissan Repair: Oil Change frequency, extreme weather conditions, long periods of time

Question
I have a 2004 Nissan Frontier with 32500 miles on it. I already had the 30,000 mile service in May of 2008. The next recommended service is an oil change at 37500.

As you can see, I do not drive this vehicle much. What would you recommend as a service interval for someone who puts on less than 5000 miles per year?

Answer
Hi Bill -

A few factors come into play here. Sometimes it is just as detrimental driving not driving a vehicle as when driving too much. If your truck sits for long periods of time not being driven, or if you live in an area of extreme weather conditions, then I would change the oil at least once a year despite mileage.

If not, then I would skip the next change at 37500, and wait til the 45000?

Hope this helps -
