Nissan Repair: Nisaan primera starting problem, blue streaks, damp start

Question
Hi, i have a 95 primera that won't start the morning after a very wet night. It will however start later in thwe day, normally around 3 0r 4. If i go out and run the car for 10mins around midnight this problem normally does not occur. I've changed the battery and alternator, and used various damp start products, but to no avail. Any ideas would be welcome, cheers

Answer
Mike,

Check under the hood for a damaed distributor cap and bad wires.  If there is moisture in the air it will ground out the coil at the cap and wires.  Remove the cap and look for traces where the voltage is running to ground.  The tracks should be white/gray.  You might even have a crack in your cap.  Also, after the car does start, open the hood where it is dark like at night or in a garage and look for blue streaks coming from the cap and wires.  It has to be really dark to see if the ignition circuit is grounding out.
