Nissan Repair: audio player & backup camera, internal fuse, reverse polarity

Question
QUESTION: Hi last night I had to give the battery of my '07 Nissan Quest a boost, it got my car started but my audio player & backup camera stopped working, at first I had placed the cables on my car wrong putting black on red & red on black and it gave a spark so it might have something to do with that

ANSWER: Chaim,

Check the fuses first and if they are not blown then the audio player and backup camera will have to be pulled and checked for the internal fuse being blown.  Reverse polarity is hard on the stereo components.  You are lucky that was all that was affected in the jump.

QUESTION: Thanks a lot for the quick reply,  I checked the fuse listed, audio bcm and it doesn't look busted, is there any other fuse for me to check and if not how difficult is it to pull the audio player and check the internal fuse, can I do it my self?

Answer
Chaim,

Unfortunately, the radio and backup camera re sensitive to reverse polarity.  If the fuses check good then the components need to be pulled and checked.  If you are electronically inclined you could remove them and disassemble them and trace the circuit to the internal fuses.  Otherwise, check your local are for a shop or get used parts to save money.
