Nissan Repair: nissan pathfinder stalling, crankshaft position sensor, cam shaft position sensor

Question
my pathfinder is not receiving fuel or spark, it is wanting to stall and wont
rev over 2000. it will start but once you try to give it gas it starts to flutter
and will want to or will stall. I am thinking it is the cam shaft position sensor
but this is a $650 part so i would like to be a bit more sure. I have heard that
the fuel filter tube may rust out and i do live in a very salted area. Also heard
that it could be the crankshaft position sensor as well. I  did have a mechanic
look at it and he cleaned out the cam shaft or something in the distributer
but it only ran well for a few days and now it is doing it again. Also read
about the Air flow meter failing as well, the air filter could be changed and i
will but i dont believe the to be the issue, it deff. feels like lack of spark or
fuel. Thank you for any input.

Answer
Julie,

You have to be getting fuel and spark for the engine to run.  But, if it dies out if you give it gas would be something like the mass airflow sensor.  The crank angle or cam position sensor will throw a check engine code.  I would get a Haynes Manual and a digital volt ohm meter and check the mass airflow sensor before I replaced anything.  Also, if it has a code get that read and email me back.
