Nissan Repair: 86.5 Hardbody no start, batt, internals

Question
Have a strange no start problem. Truck always started fine. My granddaughter went to use it but didn't realize it was in gear and she popped the clutch jumping forward about 4 inches hitting right frnt bumper on bumper of my van. It died from doing this. Ever since it wont start. Has slow crank maybe 1 or 1 1/2 revolutions of the motor and that's it. Like a low batt or bad starter. Pulled both and had them tested. Even tried a new batt just to make sure. I can put a charger on for an hour at 10 amps and then hit the 55 amp jump and it will start and run fine but will not start again. Thinking of changing starter to be safe. Couldn't think of anything else then I thought could it be that the sudden stop of the motor may have caused crank or cam to jump a tooth? It has almost 200K on it and if oil gets 1/2 qt low or so the chain will rattle at start up when cold. I cleaned cables also.
Thank you, Richard

Answer
Richard,

Sounds like the internals of the starter are going out.  Probably the brushes are worn down and the fields in the case are not up to specifications.  Replace the starter and you should be good.  The chain is dampened/ tensioned by oil.  So, keep the oil changed and at the proper level.
