Nissan Repair: HARD TIME TO START MY 1995 ALTIMA, air control valve, audible sound

Question
hi! i own an 95 Altima and it just had the oil pump and time chains changed due to an oil pressure problem, the thing is that after driving it for the whole day yesterday i had no problems at all but today in the morning i started it and the RPM went crazy! it sounded and felt as choking but it didn't die but it kept like this for about 3 minutes and then got stable after the temp was on its proper level; drives perfectly.
it shows no changes on the its power while driving whatsoever nor audible sound coming from the engine but it does smell as overheated and sound as if the coolant were boling, but it doesn't show so on the meter.
just got to my job and parked it... waited a few minutes and restarted it and got the same problem.
do you have any ideas? thanks in advance

Answer
Anael,

It could be that the coolant had a bubble and that it had to work its way out of the system.  Second, the idle problem could just be the idle air control valve.  If it does not settle down I would take it back and explain the problem to the shop that did the work.  Be sure to check the coolant prior to driving it again.  Check it when the engine is cool, as in over night.  Top it off and check the catch tank for enough coolant to drive the car.
