Nissan Repair: Heater, heater control valve, heater hose

Question
Hi, I own a 02 Altima. My question is. My heater only gets hot when I'm driving. It gets cold when stopped or idle.
All the coolant is up to par, and the system has been burped,  All line feel hot.

Do you know what causes this?

Answer
Hi Ted -

Perhaps it is the heater control valve. Follow the heater hose and find the control valve, usually located right before it enters the firewall. Warm up the engine, turn the heater on and observe that line. If one side of the heater hose is hotter than the opposite side where the valve is, the valve needs to be replaced.

Hope this helps -
