Nissan Repair: 1996 nissan altima, nissan altima, altenator

The gauges, fuel meter or any of the lights on my dash board will not operate, my altenator is being drained and the car shuts off after about three minutes of idling. What could be the problem? I think that it's electrical. Can u help me with a possible solution?

First, charge the battery fully and take the car to Autozone or Checker for a free electrical inspection.  Chances are the alternator is going out.  But, you need to hvae it checked to be sure.  Second, if the alternator is fine you need to find the draw on your electrical system.  I would look at a defective cluster or a bad connection.  But, for me I think the alternator is going out.
