Nissan Repair: Heater/AC blower switch, nissan xterra, glovebox

Question
I have a 2001 4WD 6 cyl Nissan Xterra.  Just recently our fan starting acting up.  It has four settings (1-4).  Now, it only works when it's on 4, the highest setting.  When it's switched to 1-3, nothing happens.  How can I repair this?  Thank you.

Answer
Clay,

The blower resistor has failed and needs to be replaced.  Under the dash, passenger side, on the blower box, is where the resistor is located.  You should be able to purchase at your local parts store.  Or, you could go on-line to courtesynissan.com or rockauto.com to save some money on the part.  When you purchase the new one you will see what you are replacing.  Usually, you need to remove the glovebox to get enough access to the screws that hold it to the blower case.  Other then the two screws it is just a plug and play replacement.
