Nissan Repair: Lose charge and can not start auto, nissan maxima se, fuel pump relay

Question
I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima Se with 81,000 miles and just started experiencing trouble starting the vehicle. 3 weeks ago I replaced the battery and 2 weeks ago I replaced the alternator. I had no problems for two weeks. I went to start it and it would not even turn over. Jump started it and it started as soon as the charger was hooked up. Towing man said the battery was throwing 1300 amps. What should I look for and if there is a search for a short can it be detected without great deal of expense

Answer
Wayne,

Something is taking down your electrical system.  If you have an aftermarket stereo that is the place to start looking.  Other than that it is hit and miss.  I would go to Autozone or Checker and have them do an electrical test, free, to find out what the alternator is putting out and what the battery output is.  Then, with the key off they can verify if you have a drain on the system.  Other things to look for is a stuck fuel pump relay that would run the fuel pump all the time.  Not too many things can draw the current you describe.  So, get the system checked first and email me back and let me know what they tell you.
