Nissan Repair: Checking Fuel Pressure, nissan sentra, fuel pump relay

Question
QUESTION: How do you check the fuel pressure on a 1997 Nissan Sentra?  I cannot find a
schrader valve anywhere on the fuel rail.

ANSWER: Tory,

You will have to get an adapter kit since most manufactures have deleted the schrader valve on the fuel rail.  A multi-vehicle adapter kit can be obtained at most part stores.

QUESTION: Alright Thank you but I have one more question.  Here is the problem I have
right now.  The car wouldn't start a few days ago it would just turn over.  I
checked spark on every cylinder and its sparking fine.  Today I changed the
fuel filter and when turning it over it seems like it really wants to start but
just wont.  I'm going to be checking/changing the spark plugs tomorrow and
see if anything clears up.  I'm thinking maybe the fuel pump is going out and
might not be pushing enough pressure to get it to start?

Answer
Tory,

The fuel pressure is the real way to tell if you are getting fuel pressure.  If you cannot determine what the fuel pressure is you could replace the fuel pump relay or the fuel pump.  But, to spend the money and time without verifcation would be costly.  If there is not a check engine light you might be correct.  But, I would want to know before I replaced parts just thinking they are not working.  Get a fuel pressure adapter kit so you will know for sure.
