Nissan Repair: 1993 Nissan Altima, neutral safety switch, nissan altima

Question
I have a 93 Nissan Altima. I just got it a few days ago from a private party. When I first got it I tried to start it and had no luck. My mom told me I had to push the clutch ALL the way to the floor. I did so and it fired up just fine. Drove nice except it is kind of hard to get in to gear. You almost have to force it. After a few days of driving it became harder to start. No matter how hard I pushed the clutch in it wouldn't start. All of the lights would come on but it wouldn't make any noise. I would pump the clutch and after a few attempts it would start. Today it quit starting completely. No matter how hard I pushed the clutch or how many times I pumped it. I made sure it was ALL the way to the floor and other ppl tried to start it unsuccessfully as well. I was thinking its either the clutch or the neutral safety switch on the clutch pedal. I'm no mechanic but I've done a lil research and those seem like reasonable answers. I was just wondering your opinion or if you could help in any way. Thank you so much. Look forward to hearing back from you

Answer
Char,

The clutch master and slave cylinder need to be bled with new fluid.  That should take care of the shifting problem short term.  Sounds like the clutch slave and master cylinder both need to be replaced.  The clutch safety switch should be bridged (plug a wire into both sides of the plug after you remove it from the switch at the top of the clutch pedal).  Now, in neutral, the car should start.  Remember to replace the switch, if that is the problem, or the car will start in gear.  And, you do not what the car to drive off uncommanded...
