Nissan Repair: Ventilation Fan Problems, automatic climate control, ventilation fan

The fan for AC/Heat/Vent on my '98 Maxima started working only intermittently over the past 2 weeks.  It appears to not work at all when the outside/inside temp is warm and sometimes when it is cool (early morning).  When it works, everything works fine.  Any simple things to try before the mechanic?

The control, if automatic is probably the culpret.  The blower usually fails all the way when it dies.  If you have manual airconditioning it is probably the switch.  With the automatic climate control it is usually the module that the control runs.
