Nissan Repair: 2000 Nissan Altima - Tach/Speedometer/Temp/Odometer Not Working, digital odometer, nissan altima

Question
This afternoon, while stopped at a light, I noticed the digital odometer was blank and the dials on the tachometer and temperature gauges were at zero. When I accelerated, the speedometer stayed at zero & the other dials did not budge. When I parked and restarted, everything was fine.

Two days ago, while driving with the cruise control engaged, the 'set' light started flashing and the car sped up then slowed down. I pulled off and AAA said don't use until I have it checked out.

1. Any ideas? and 2. Are the two incidents related?

Thanks for any help

Answer
Ellen,

Your problem is probably the connection to the instrument cluster or the cluster transformer itself.  I would have the cluster removed and clean the connection and the harness with a number 2 pencil eraser and blow off the dust and reinstall.  If it works you are golden.  If not, source a wrecking yard cluster and change yours out.  A rebuilt cluster, even yours is going to run $300 bucks to $600 for a rebuild one.
