Nissan Repair: car turnd off and will not turn on, distributor cap, timing belt

Question
my 1997 sentra turn off while i was driving home, i changed the distributor cap to see if that was the problem but it was not it and i got somebody to look at it and all they told me was that the car was getting gas but they think its not getting a spark so now im asking if u might know what the problem is?

Answer
Hi Marcos -

Can you check the timing belt, please. Take the distributor cap off again and have someone try to start the car very briefly. If the rotor does not spin, then most likely it is your timing belt.

If it does spin, then get back to me, and I will walk you through the next test.

thank you
