how do i get to and remove the idler pulley?

Hi Herbert -

The idler pulley is located front of the engine, and has a hold down bolt right in the middle of it. This bolt is usually 14MM head and can be removed with an open end wrench (speed wrench would be good), or if you have clearance a socket and ratchet.

Ensure you observe the order of any washers or spacers, and put them back the same way, otherwise it will not work properly.
