Nissan Repair: noise, small screws, drive belts

Question
Hello when I turn on the a/c the car makes some kind of dragging noise, when I turn off  a/c the noise stops, now that it is going into fall, I am noticing the noise when I turn on my heat

Answer
HI Stacey -

Is the sound coming from the engine compartment? If so,
First thing I would check is the belt that drives the A/C compressor. It could be frayed or loose, or both. It is also prudent to replace all the drive belts, as they are all probably the same age. I did not get the year and make of your car, so I cannot tell you how many belts you have, or how difficult/easy it is to replace. Normally replacing belts is not a hard task.

If the sound is coming from within the car interior, then I would check the fan and fan motor in the duct. Usually it is located above the passenger foot area, and attached with several small screws.

Hope this helps -
