Question
Is replacing the starter a difficult task or can an ambitious do it youselfer get it done.  I had a mechanic look at it and he diagnosed the starter but will do it after two weeks which maybe to long for my wife and I.

Answer
Hi Sean -

I did not get the make and model of your vehicle. I am assuming it is 2003.

In any case most starter jobs are pretty basic, and being just a little mechanically inclined will do the trick. It is important to have the right tools. Do you have access to:

3/8 drive ratchet, preferably flex head
various extensions
socket set (the bolts are probably 14mm)
open end wrenches - 14mm, 10mm

Battery must be disconnected at the negative terminal before work starts.

Give me the info on your vehicle and I will walk you through it.
