Nissan Repair: Nissan Sentra SR20 DE, nissan sentra, click sound

Question
I have a vehicle as above in a 'B13' Sedan Model.  For the past few days I've noticed that when I start up, none of the lights on the dash come on not even for a split second, but my Battery Light is on very faint and stays on the entire journey.  Also, after I've started up I get a 'click' sound somewhere around the steering area when I put the car in gear.

The horn works fine and is really loud which suggests to me that it may not be a battery problem [because it'd be faint if the battery was dying] but I don't want to go to a mechanic to be ripped off and not get the problem fixed.

Help me out please :)

Answer
Gia,

Sounds like the alternator's voltage regulator has died and is allowing too much voltage to feet the electrical system.  I would have the charging system checked to see how much it is putting out.  That click you hear is probably a circuit breaker opening to protect the instruments.
