Nissan Repair: transmission shudder, throttle position sensor, solenoid valve

Question
My 1999 altima transmission shudders when changing from 1st. gear to 2nd. gear. This shudder is hardly noticeable on climbing steep slopes. I've changed the solenoid valve set. Also, a chirping noise sometimes emanates from the transmission area. What is wrong? Is the throttle position sensor related to this problem?

Answer
Bob,

I would get the car on a scanner for the transmission to see what the pressures are.  If you have changed the solenoid set that should have resolved the shift point issue.  But, to shudder means that one is sticking while the other is applying.  So, I would have replaced the solenoid set too.  Now, I have seen transmissions where a software upgrade corrected the problem.  So, get it scanned and see what the readings are.  Also, check out office of defects on google.  That takes you to ODI where the government lists service bulletins.  If yours has a transmission shift issue it will be posted there.  Now, since it is way out of warranty the dealer will not fix it for free.  But, you will know what the problem is.
