Auto body repair & detailing: 98 chevy malibu bumper repair, chevy malibu, 10mm nuts

Question
My moms car has a front bumper that is worn and I've decided to replace it for her. Can you give me some tips on how to take the old one off and install another? The one i got is primed and ready for paint. Thank you so much.

Answer
First, have it painted. Remove both headlamps. Remove any plastic clips along the top of the bumper. Remove the 10mm nuts attaching the bump. to the fenders, bottom side up, 2 per side. The front 2 can be accessed through the headlamp opening. Remove the fasteners on the black plastic wheel house liners where they attach to the cover. There are probably more along the front bottom edge. Once all the fasteners are removed, it should slide right off of there. Enlist the help of a friend to install the cover to minimize potential damage to the new part.
