Nissan Repair: Nissan Maxima 2000 ignition key, steering wheel lock, nissan maxima

Hi Calvin,

My car Nissan Maxima 2000 suddenly could not turn the ignition key after a night. It has been good as normal the days before. Key can insert into ignition lock fully but cannot turn to any angle either to start the engine or just to hear the radio. The car is not in steering wheel lock status or has any abnormal condition. Horn, lights are OK, keyless door lock & unlock are OK. It is a automatic transmission and shift is at "P" position as normal. I don't see any abnormal condition appears, just the key cannot turn in the ignition lock. Please help. Should I call the Car lock locksmith? Thank you

Hi David -

Usually this is caused by the steering wheel being turned and resting against the lock mechanism. If you cannot turn the key while playing with the steering wheel, then the only thing I can think of is that the lock is jammed. Try spraying some lubricant in the lock itself.
