My transmission in my pathfinder shifts hard then when it gets hot it will only shift to second gear, then when you let off the gas is feels like it goes completley out of gear. It won't shift to third it just makes a loud hum and  revs the engine. you can let it cool down then it will shift again

Hi Tracy -

Have you checked the trans oil level? Also, check the condition of the oil. If it is a dark red/brown color, it needs replacing. Also replace the filter too.

There is a great additive called AT205. Here in Hawaii it is sold through Carquest. In my experience, it has proven to be a savior.

If all fails, you will need a trans overhaul.
