Nissan Repair: fitting primera quarter glass, proper orientation, quarter glass

Question
Can you tell me how i go about replacing the o/s quarter glass on a 1997 nissan primera. I have a replacement glass and the rubber seal.

Answer
Paul,

If this is the glass in the door, the door panel has to be removed and then the track to the larger window has to be loosened, the rubber pulled down to get to the screw.  That screw is removed and the old rubber and broken glass has to be removed.  Then, the new glass gets installed with the new rubber, rubber protectant helps to get everything in place.  Once the rubber is fully positioned the frame is moved back on the one side and the screw installed.  Then the larger window track is repositioned and bolted in place at the bottom.  I like to take the opportunity to lubricate and clean while inside the door.  Then, reinstall the panel.

If the quarter glass you describe is the one up front, by its self, then it is a matter of removing the interior trim plastic.  Then, cut out the old glass, rubber, with a utility knife.  Then, fit the new window.  Remove and install a couple of times, removing excess old rubber as required.  Now, once you have the trial fit to your desire remove once again and using a sealer, reinstall the final time.  I use masking tape, when required, to hold the glass in proper orientation.  After it dries, reinstall the plastic inner trim.
