Nissan Repair: 1998 Nissan Frontier, neutral safety switch, clutch pedal

Question
I'm having trouble starting my truck. I have to pump the clutch pedal and turn the key off and on repeatedly to get the starter to turn over. Usually when I try to start it normally, push the clutch pedal to the floor and turn the key, I get nothing. Not even a solenoid click. So I pump the clutch pedal and turn the key off and on repeatedly and I eventually get the right combination and it starts. Then there are other times it starts normally the first time. I should also let you know if I don't make sure I turn the key all the way tight against the lock position when turning it off the instrument panel will stay on and drain the battery. Help!

Answer
Hi Tim -

I would say it is the ignition switch. It could be the neutral safety switch, but because of your second issue, looks like the ignition switch.

Are you replacing that yourself? Do you need instructions to replace the ignition switch? It is relatively easy, however you will need some basic tools.

Let me know, and I will be glad to take you through -
