Nissan Repair: piston noise, 2004 nissan maxima, nissan maxima

Hi Calvin,I have a 2004 nissan maxima which lately the pistons are making noise on up hills or just pressing on the gas lightly and going 5 to 10 mph,i was told it can be the gas or a little off timing,i use 89octane.

Has the engine been worked on lately? Have you changed gasoline, or the place where you fill?

You are correct, engine knck is usually caused by advanced timing, or low octane fuel.

The other thing it could be is overheating. Dies the vehicle immediately start pinging, or after a while?
