Nissan Repair: ignition problem, steering wheel, diagnosis

Hi my key will go in to the ignition but will not turn.  the sensor that says the door is open will still sound.  What needs replaced?

Before we go into an elaborate diagnosis, I have one simple question, and please bear with me on this, because it is a common thing -

Are the wheels turned to one side? If so, try moving the steering wheel in the direction of the way the wheels are turned and at the same time turning your key. A lot of times it is wedged, and the steering wheel needs to be moved.
